1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
I’d rather have a good coffee or a hot tea.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?
Santa always wraps the presents and puts them in nice present bags and everything. It’s more fun if you don’t see right away what it is.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
None, but you can see the lights flashing in the Christmas tree inside.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
5. When do you put your decorations up?
Always on 24th December. Because Santa comes on that night and he must find a nicely decorated tree.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
Piftie!!!! And chicken with baked potatoes and pickles.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child:
In ’91 or ’92, when my grandma from Germany came to spend Christmas with us and we had both grandmas here and thus double size of presents!! It was great! My brother and I learned poems and psalms and recited them and the grandmas were more than ready to open up their purses and buy everything the two „gifted” grandsons wished :) And I’ll always remember the joy of having them both with us. I had a feeling that no one was missing; the family was complete. Such a perfect feeling.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I think some kid in in kindergarten told me, so I started to pay attention to things and, to my great disappointment, I found the Christmas tree in the shed long before Christmas and my parents had always told me that Santa brought the tree on the 24th, never earlier.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
All of them! Santa comes to us in the evening of the 24th, so we open all the gifts and have a Christmas dinner and everything.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
Same decorations that we had when I was a kid, plus some stuff I bought in recent years to give it a modern look. We have lots of decorations and candies and the star on top and lights and tinsel (I love tinsel! I’d wrap myself in tinsel!) and candles and fireworks.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
I don’t like it that much. Especially now that I’m allergic to cold. It’s nice to see it fall and cover the city in a white, poetic, coat… but it gets dirty very soon and melts into puddles and I hate it.
12. Can you ice skate?
Yes, and I like it :)
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Maybe the „Scarlett” (sequel to „Gone with the Wind”) book that I received in ’91, when I was sure we wouldn’t have money for any presents at all. The book had just been translated into Romanian and I was in love with Rhett Butler, and it came just when I was hopelessly wishing for it, teaching me that strong wishes [and loving mothers] can work miracles. :)
14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Well… the holidays! I mean not going to work and the joy it brings to my soul :d And being with friends, and having more time to read and watching „Miracle on the 34th Street” for the 100th time!!
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
Chocolate! And the candies I steal from the Christmas tree.
17. What tops your tree?
18. Which do you prefer: giving or receiving?
Wrapping presents! I love buying presents, choosing the best present for each and every person, imagining how delighted they will be to receive it, and building the story behind each present. I have great fun buying and arranging presents. And I love receiving presents, especially in the form of books, book vouchers and such :p
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song (s)?
My very very favorite song is „Joy to the World”. I also like „Noel Noel” and „The Little Drummer Boy”. And all the Spanish carols (especially „Los peces„). My favorite Romanian carols are „Dom Dom sa-naltam” and „Colindita”.
20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?
Nice to have on your desk. But I wouldn’t eat them. Actually, I have one from last year.
Special thanks to Cassie for this test that I found on her blog. Like she said, you are all tagged :)
